Project Features

Completion: 1994

It is a modern 33-story high-rise building, comprising 7,000 tons of structural steel, located in Mexico City, and built using high strength A572 grade 50 steel. This bracing free structure features a three dimensional rigid frame which resists the potential high seismic loads. Four-foot square box columns, built up with plate, were required to control lateral drift in this active earthquake area. All gravity load connections were field bolted while girder moment connections and column splices were field welded. Canam Steel’s engineering group initiated the redesign process which eliminated approximately 2,000 tons of steel compared to the initial design.
