Project Features
Completion: 1994
It is Boston’s new 19,600-seat home for the NHL Bruins and the NBA Celtics. This 298-foot clear span roof is supported by ten 30-foot deep curved trusses which were fully shop assembled in one piece prior to being shipped knocked down for field erection. The project required the manufacturing of 12,000 prefabricated components to construct this 8,000-ton structure. Two levels comprising some 2,500 tons of steel situated over a rapid transit station permitted the lower level concrete slabs to be completed in a four-month span. Structal erected the upper bowl steel from the ice rink or event floor in seven months, allowing the stadium to open on time.
