| Structal Secures a CAN$12M Contract to Build the New Edmonton Clinic North |

(BOUCHERVILLE, QC) – Structal-Heavy Steel Construction (“Structal”), a business unit of Canam Group Inc. (TSX: CAM), has secured a contract worth CAN$12 million from PCL Construction Management Inc. for the fabrication and erection of the structural steel frame required to build Edmonton Clinic North in Edmonton, Alberta. This six-storey building will cover a total surface area of 500,000 square feet (46,452 m2).
“We are very proud of this contract,” said Structal president Luc Pelland. “Not only is this a breakthrough for us in the Western Canadian market, but it also means that our expertise and excellent customer service are recognized in the healthcare construction sector.”
Fabrication of the structural steel components, mainly in Canam Group’s Calgary, AB, and Sunnyside, WA, plants, will begin in the fall of 2008. The erection process is scheduled to begin in February 2009 and should be completed during the third quarter of 2009.
Edmonton Clinic North will be administered by the University of Alberta and will be devoted to teaching and research. It will be part of The Edmonton Clinic, a world-class healthcare facility scheduled to open in 2011 and the first of its kind to be built in Canada.
Structal-Heavy Steel Construction is specialized in major and complex construction projects and also offers engineering support, design-build and project management services.
In recent years, Structal and Canam Group Inc. have been associated with many other complex and prestigious construction projects in North America, including the new stadiums built for the New York Mets, the New York Yankees, the New York Giants and New York Jets, the New York Red Bulls, the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles, the new arena for the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Newseum in Washington, DC, and the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
