| Structal secures CAN$70 million contract for the New York Mets new ballpark |

Boucherville, QC – Structal-Heavy Steel Construction (“Structal”), a business unit of Canam Group Inc. (TSX: CAM.A), located in Point of Rocks, MD, announced today that it has secured a contract from HuntBovis Strategic Alliance a joint venture, for the fabrication and erection of the New York Mets New Stadium project. The ballpark construction costs are estimated at around US$600 million (CAN$700 million) and Structal’s contract is approximately CAN$70 million.
“We are confident that this contract will allow Structal to strengthen its position as leader in the construction of complex sports facilities and convention centers” said Luc Pelland, President of Structal. “The recognition of our expertise and our commitment to the satisfaction of our customers are the key elements which enabled us to secure this contract” added Charlie Watson, President of Structal’s U.S. division.
Fabrication of the steel structure will begin during the fall of 2006 at several of Canam Group’s plants, including the one in Saint-Gedeon, QC. Steel erection is scheduled to begin in January 2007 to be completed during the 4th Quarter 2007.
Structal-Heavy Steel Construction is the business unit of Canam Group Inc. specialized in major and complex construction projects that include engineering support, design-build and project management services.
Hunt Construction Group, a United States premier builder of sports facilities and convention centers and Bovis Lend Lease, a world-renowned construction management and consulting firm, formed a strategic alliance to pursue sports facilities construction projects in the New York metropolitan area. The 1.26 million sq. ft (117 058 m2) open-air ballpark will be built in the outfield parking lot between Shea Stadium and 126th Street. The new venue will have capacity for approximately 45,000 fans. Construction is expected to be completed by Opening Day 2009.
Structal and Canam Group Inc. have been associated with many other large scope construction projects in North America, including the AFC Champion Patriots’ Stadium in New England, the NFC Champion Eagles’ Stadium in Philadelphia, the Newseum in Washington, DC, the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, the Connecticut Convention Center, the Niagara Falls Casino, the Lester B. Pearson International Airport in Toronto, the Montréal-Trudeau International Airport and a number of aluminum smelters, among others.
