In Delivery: Canam Point of Rocks delivers trusses for Citi Field ballpark

The Point of Rocks, MD plant operated by Canam United States spent the summer fabricating a series of trusses for Citi Field, the new world-class home of the New York Mets. The trusses were fabricated in the new section of the plant dedicated to complex components.

Slated for delivery in September are radius bottom-chord trusses, which will be “fill-in” elements throughout the Club and Promenade levels of the superstructure. The trusses weigh between one and seven tons each, and required a special permit due to their oversize width.

The Maryland facility primarily fabricated bracing trusses for this project over the summer, for a total of 700 tons.

Canam is producing the steel for Structal-Heavy Steel Construction, a division of Canam Group that obtained the contract for fabricating and erecting the trusses and other structural steel for the project from HuntBovis Strategic Alliance. The contract is worth more than US$60 million.
