Project to build a new sports and entertainment venue in Quebec City: Wood vs. steel

Québec 800 radio host Dominique Dumas recently invited Luc Pelland, president of Structal-Heavy Steel Construction, a division of Canam Group, to his show for a live interview. The purpose of the interview was to obtain the opinion of an expert in the construction of arenas and stadiums as well as to help listeners understand the different reasons that will influence the decision to build Quebec City’s new multipurpose venue in either wood or steel.
Recent projects
In the last 17 years, Structal-Heavy Steel Construction has participated in the construction of 54 stadiums and arenas, and has developed a recognized expertise in building structural steel components for sports complexes. Some of the business unit’s most recent projects include Yankee Stadium, home of the NY Yankees, Citi Field, home of the NY Mets, New Meadowlands Stadium, home of the NY Giants and NY Jets, Red Bull Arena, home of the NY Red Bulls, and Consol Energy Center, home of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
